Senzo Zungu

Mr Senzo Zungu is a Chief Financial Officer is the KZN Department of Social Development. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from University of Zululand and Post Graduate Certificate in Public Finance and Fiscal Management from University of Witwatersrand (School of Governance).

He has twenty-five (25) years work experience in Government Financial Management. He previously worked as a Director : Budget Management in the Limpopo Provincial Treasury responsible for Provincial Government's budget in excess of R70 billion made up of Equitable Share, Conditional Grants and Own Revenue.

His extensive financial management experience involves working with Standard Chart of Accounts (SCoA) in preparation of budgets for departments (databases), monitoring of budget for departments (IYMs) and reporting of budget performance in Annual Financial Statements (Appropriation Statements).

Within two years of his appointment as a Chief Financial Officer, he has turned around challenges of delayed and non payment of service providers and NPOs funded by the department. He is currently working and implementing the plan for the department to improve its unqualified audit outcome with two findings for 2024/25 financial year to unqualified audit outcome with no findings (clean audit) in 2025/26 financial year.

His efforts are noticeable on turning around the SCM for the department, by introducing check lists for compliance on all bids and quotations prior to the any award. This environment was tested by the Auditor General and no fundings raised in 2023/24 and 2024/25 financial year.
